Fortunately, getting a job is a relatively easy thing to do with plenty of flexible and high paying jobs in Hendricks county.
Parks staff/ lifeguarding
Located at the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center in Plainfield, the pool and Splash Island offer both concessions and admissions and lifeguarding jobs. Concessions and admissions employees help check people into the pool or prepare food and work the cash register at the concessions stand. Making $12.50 an hour, this position is good for fast paced quick learners who would prefer to stay dry rather than jump into action at the pool.
Lifeguard positions at the aquatic center make $14 an hour on weekdays, and $15 on weekends.
Lifeguarding is good for attentive people who are, according to Cascade High School junior, Taylor Trusty “Being repared for any situation and being ready to jump in at a moment’s notice and enforce the rules is a big job.”
Washington Township Parks Department is searching for facility and events staff to assist with events. This is a miscellaneous job that will keep you on your toes. The main task for this job is to be an Event Host. Good customer service skills are a must have. Employees have to set up and take down equipment as well as maintain a clean facility.
Farming/outdoors
Calling all lovers of nature and the outdoors! Cox’s Plant Farm on highway 40 is the job for you. Employee and Cascade High School junior Elijah Cook usually completes relaxing yet physical tasks such as, “moving pots or scooping dirt into pots.”
Paying $10 an hour, Cox’s Plant Farm is a wonderful job for those who value movement and hard work in their job.
Food Service
A restaurant setting such as Bru Burger in Plainfield is a perfect workplace for those who enjoy a fast paced environment. CHS junior Mirra Miles helps find people a table and cleans them after customers have finished their meals. Not only does she make $10 an hour, she also earns an additional 2% of the tips from customers.
Miles spoke highly of the healthy and fun working environment at Bru Burger. She stated that, “The management is great and so is the pay, the best part of my job is the people I work with.”
Not only is the environment at Bru Burger friendly, but training is relatively short for it being a restaurant job. Miles completed just “2 weeks of training with an experienced employee.”
Another job that attracts teens across Hendricks county is being a kitchen team Mmember at Chick-Fil-A in Plainfield. This job features employee discounts as well as paid training and a flexible schedule for busy high school students. Depending on availability, employees are paid $13-16/hour.
Other restaurants in the area that are looking to hire include Subway in Avon and in Plainfield, Culvers in Avon. Culvers pays $10-17 per hour and highlights proper food safety practices and customary guest service.
