The return of snowcoming

MaKye Tharp, Senior Staff Writer

It has been years since there has been a winter homecoming.  But, after lots of effort and planning, it’s back.

Snowcoming is just what it sounds like…a winter homecoming. It is like the fall homecoming with the dress up days, pep sessions and a nomination court. The twist is that instead of the court being for the girls,  the court is now for the boys and will be held at the basketball game.

This week of fun and celebration will be February 13-17 with the pep session being on Friday the 17th. Not only will there be an assembly in the main gym, but there will be class competitions, special events and hallway decorating.

Then the court will be crowned during halftime of Friday’s varsity game against Western Boone.  After all the activities on Friday, there will be a semi-formal dance on Saturday the 18th in the main gym.

Senior Rylie Lambert said, “Dress up days are always exciting and the dance will also be fun.”

While the winter days are long, this event brings a great opportunity for some great fun and something to look forward to.

“I think it is a good tradition that is finally returning and I’m glad we get to experience it,” said senior Ruby Gray.

The week for winter homecoming finally returning is going to be an amazing experience for everyone around the school.
