On the road to success

The Lady Cadets basketball team has started the 2022-2023 season off strong, boasting a current record of 9-1 . The girls are not only off to a hot start, they are ready and eager to face some tougher competition.

Leading the girls this season are seniors Sydney Warren, Abby Parsons and Madison Short.

According to third-year coach, Adam Parsons, “These ladies are strong athletes and great mentors for the team. I am looking forward to success with the team and growing with the girls as individuals.”

The goals for the season is to be conference, county and sectional champions, which may seem lofty.  But according to Parsons, preparation will be the key.

In order to achieve these goals, the team engages in fast-paced practices and works to keep up on conditioning and game-like environments.

The only loss this season came against a very good  Triton Central team.  The Cadets dropped a previously-undefeated Decatur Central early in the season to boost momentum.

Their work will be cut out for them in the county tourney against teams like Brownsburg and Plainfield. There are tough matches ahead, but the girls are preparing to face them while working hard in practices each day.

Abby Parsons is a hot three-point shooter, who just collected her 1,000th point for her career.  Others contributing to the success of this squad include scrappy juniors Liviar Campbell and Creedence Chittenden, who work well away from the ball to create opportunities.

County play begins January 3 at Brownsburg and the Cadets expect to show up big.  This could be the season to end all seasons if things continue on this road.
