A massive heatwave scorched across globe during this summer. Temperatures reached 108 degrees Fahrenheit in France. Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands also experienced life threatening temperatures up to 104 degrees.
According to scientists at the National Weather Service, the reason why the temperatures were so high was because of the massive area of high pressure that extends into the upper atmosphere.
Most people in these countries do not have central air conditioning. Less than five percent of the European population has air conditioning in their homes.
Closer to home, the heatwave also brings the saddest part of summer, which is parents forgetting or leaving their kids or pets locked in a hot car.

Even with the windows rolled down, the temperature in a car can increase by 20 to 30 degrees in 10 minutes and up to 50 degrees in a half hour.

Over 50 percent of these cases are accidental, with 26 percent of those children getting into car on their own.

Hopefully, the fall will bring cooler temperatures across the globe and a mild winter.
