The wrestling team came back this year planning to do some damage. New Coach Adam Metzger has taken over and the wrestling team has gotten off to a great start this season with a record of (13-4).
Coach Metzger said “the team has started to buy into the process, we are pushing and that always comes with better results.”
The wrestling team has some important matches coming up having two duals meets and the conference meet. Metzger said “We expect to win our final two dual meets and plan to get a top four finish at the conference tournament.”
After those meets, the wrestling team will start their run on the state tournament. The boys expect seniors Camden Rose, Dalton Butler and Ricardo Escudero to get to semistate this year. Metzger said, “Once we get there anything is possible and all three will be looking to punch a ticket to the state tournament.”
The wrestling team has improved a lot this season and plan is to go up in the future. Next year they have some young talent coming back such as Sophomore Preston Fox and freshman Kado Lewis.
The team has some big goals for the future, one of which is to make the team state tournament within the next two years. They have never finished inside the top 50 and are hoping to get there soon.
