At Cascade High School, Hannah Smith is a well known name.
The four year varsity swimmer and recent prom queen has been around at Mill Creek for quite some time now. Smith went to Clarks Creek from grades k-3 before transferring to Mill Creek in fourth grade, and now all these years later, she’s preparing to walk the stage at graduation, but not without leaving a mark.
After graduation, she plans to pursue her education at Indiana University where she wants to continue her joy in school and get an elementary education degree there to become a teacher.
During her time at Cascade, Smith has enjoyed being apart of the community whether it’s online or if it’s at swim. She likes being up to date with the community on Facebook, saying, “I really appreciate the chatter page of this community. It really keeps you in the loop.”
A varsity swimmer all four years of high school, the pool is where she’s made a lot of her favorite memories, one of which was a swim practice where everyone swam with glow sticks in.
Smith is going to miss a lot about high school, from the memories she’s made at swim, to the kind people around her. But another thing she’ll miss are the awesome teachers who made her fun classes and made the school what it is for the students learning there.
Although there are going to be a lot of changes after graduating from high school and taking a step away from an amazing community of people, she’ll be taking a step toward a brighter tomorrow and is excited to see what’s next. As she gets ready to follow her dreams in the future, she advises younger students here to do the same.
“My advice to younger generations would be do not let anyone tell you that you can not do what you want after high school. If you believe that you can do it, go for it!”
