Graduation is creeping up fast, and seniors are getting their future plans and thoughts together. For one student athlete, it is an exciting time.
Noah Vela has been a student at MCCSC since kindergarten, and attended Mill Creek West Elementary School.
Noah has done a lot of things here at CHS, including 4 years of track and cross country, membership in NHS, acting as a mentor at Cadet Kickoff and as a camp counselor for the Future Cadets Track and Field camp.
When asked about his future plans, he said, “After high school, I plan on attending Indiana University Bloomington with a major in nursing.”
Noah didn’t always know what he wanted to do. “For the longest time I never really knew what I wanted to do after high school, I just knew that I wanted a career where I felt I could leave an impact,” he said. And it made sense that this is where he landed.
“Growing up I became a cautious person at an early age to keep myself safe. It also trained me to be calm in emergency situations which I believe will help me as I pursue my career in nursing.”
As for advice Noah would give younger students, he said to get out of that comfort zone.
“I know that it’s pretty basic advice but, around the beginning of my high school journey I was too awkward and lacked the confidence to go out and do different things. However, through my clubs like cross country, I made many friends who helped me come out of my shell and be myself. This senior year I have tried to do as many activities as possible like going to the Homecoming dances and participating in the polar plunge. It has easily been my most fun year of high school. So don’t be too afraid or embarrassed to do anything. If there’s something you wanna try, Try It! Because it’s all gonna go quick, so enjoy it to the max while you can!” he stated.
