There is a rising star making her presence felt in two sports.
CHS junior Macey Pugh has become a star both on the basketball court and on the softball field for the Cadets. She has proven to be a dominant force in her sports not just to local fans, but to college coaches as well. Pugh recently committed to the University of Southern Indiana to continue her softball career at the D1 college level.
This is an accomplishment that few in Cascade history have achieved and that’s what makes it an even more special achievement.
Pugh is coming off a stellar sophomore season, batting .384 with three home runs. She helped lead her team to a state championship, the first in the school’s history for any sport. She is looking to repeat that in her junior year and help the Cadets go back to back as they move from 2A to 3A, where they will be tested even more.
As good as she is on the field, she is just as good on the court. Pugh has been a varsity player since day one of her freshman year and she has been a dominant scoring force who continues to improve.
She has gone from 2.4 points per game her rookie season to 6.8, to now averaging 12.3 in her junior season. She has also been a defensive monster averaging an amazing 2.5 steals per game this season, which led the team.
Pugh has a very bright future and there is no telling how amazing her career can be, whether it’s going for another state title in softball to dominating the scoreboard on the basketball court.
Southern Indy has gotten a real star: one who is destined for greatness as an athlete, a student, and as a very kind person,
