Christmas is just around the corner and that means spreading holiday cheer. From opening gifts, eating lots of yummy food and being with family and friends. And at CHS, it means something special for the little ones in the community.
Every year in December, the CHS chapter of the National Honor Society hosts a holiday party for selected elementary students in the area. This has always served as a great opportunity for the high school students and staff to contribute to the time of the season and provide a great time for the youngsters before the holiday break.
NHS sponsor and teacher, Caleb Eldridge said “ We are able to have around 50 students from the community, usually 25 from each of our two elementary schools, Mill Creek East and Mill Creek West.”
On December 10th, the high school cafeteria turned into a winter wonderland dedicated to arts and crafts, gifts and even a visit with Santa. Many gifts are provided for the kids by staff, students, administration and even parents including toys, books, clothes, games and more.
Eldridge said. “This is a special opportunity for Cascade to help support and give back to this wonderful community that we are blessed to be a part of.”
Teacher Rachel Morris said art club students provided face painting. “We painted holiday themed things like candy canes, red noses and snowflakes,” she said.
With so many wonderful helpers, and so many happy faces, it was another successful year for this event. With Santa’s arrival in sight, the spirit is in full swing.
