Another year, another homecoming and this year was absolutely incredible.
Cascade hosted another successful homecoming week and this year it was bigger and better than ever.
From the dress up days, pep rallies, parade, block party, court, the big game and of course the dance homecoming game, everything was just perfect and extremely full of excitement and joy.
Homecoming coordinators Courtney Schimel and Megan Pugh described this year’s homecoming as “next level.” According to principal Jeff Hansel,“ It’s not about school spirit- it’s about how we all come together to support each other, celebrate our school and build relationships that go beyond the classroom.”
With so many fun new activities, the student body was more involved than ever. With two pep rallies, awesome dress up days and more, Cascade has never been more excited for homecoming like this year.
When asked how this year impacted the community, Hansel said, “The sense of pride and unity in the community has been incredible to witness. Events like this remind us how strong our connections are and how important it is to keep finding ways to bring people together. The support from everyone — parents, teachers, local leaders, and even those who don’t have direct ties to the school has been amazing. It’s moments like these that show the true heart of our community.”
Homecoming is an event that everyone looks forward to all year long to see what activities and planning goes into making this event fun, memorable and exciting.
Senior Ava Allen said. “ My favorite thing about homecoming was seeing all of my friends and dancing with them. A lot of people don’t enjoy the homecoming dances because they don’t believe they are fun, but I really think everyone there was having a good time. I also thought having a live dj was fun.”
According to Assistant Principal Lori White, “When I came here in the fall of 2002, the pep sessions were very disappointing. I remembered the pep sessions I went to in high school and almost all the students were actively involved: cheering, participating in the fight song, etc. It was fun and exciting.”
“I was shocked at the first pep session here because few of the students were involved. The pep band played and the cheerleaders worked hard to plan a great pep session, but the students did not join in. I wondered why we had them since many of the students did not participate.”
One homecoming event that was brought back after a few years was the parade. There were many floats that represented sports, clubs, committees, grade levels and more.
The parade was kicked off by a police escort, the CHS band, and the grand marshal, the Lady Cadet softball team.
Senior Addy Paschal said. “The opportunity to ride the softball float towards the front of the parade made me feel extremely special. Getting to see the excitement and support throughout the community in both adults and children alike made me feel appreciated and as though I may be a part of inspiring the youth of the Cascade Softball program.”
After the parade, folks gathered back at the high school for the BLOCK PARTY! There were food vendors, a chili cook off, a Mariokart tournament, and a dunk tank filled with teachers and staff.
With all the excitement around the success of this year, future events will most likely be even better.
