Meet senior Alexa Rodrigues.
Alexa is originally from Guam, which is an island in the Pacific Ocean. She moved to Fairfield, Cal., which is fifty miles north of San Francisco. When she lived there, she attended Vanden High School and was varsity tennis player and swimmer.
Once she arrived at CHS, she did not slow down.
Now you can see her cheering for our football and basketball teams. Cheerleading isn’t her only outlet as you can also find her playing soccer and swimming. Rodriguez is involved in several clubs on top of her athletic commitments. She is the vice president of Students Against Destructive Decisions, also known as SADD, which aims to equip young people with knowledge and leadership skills that will allow them to make more responsible decisions as they grow up. She is also in the National Honor Society and is committed to maintaining a stellar academic record.
Rodriguez’s favorite thing about Cascade is the environment surrounding the school. She loves the community of the school, saying that, “I feel as though it is very welcoming and can give someone the opportunity to grow as a person and a student.”
After high school, she plans to leave Indiana and move to Texas, where she will pursue her bachelor’s degree. It is her dream to go into the medical field and study to become a neurosurgeon. She is always looking for ways to help others, and she believes that going into medicine will allow her to do more for others than she is able to right now.
She said, “I have dreamed of this path for a long time. My inspiration that has driven me to choose that path is my mother’s best friend that fought a brain tumor for years.”
Alexa dreams of working in a field that will hopefully allow her to save lives.
