Savannah Shotwell is a lot of things.
She is a revered intern for the Danville Republican and a managing editor at CHS for the broadcasting class. After nearly three years of working on her journalism skills, Savannah has a real “shot” at making it a career.
Before transferring to Cascade, Shotwell attended Noblesville High School and was a part of their newspaper team. She has been interning for the Republican Newspaper in Danville where she spent the summer conducting interviews and writing articles to be published in the paper.
She also completed office tasks such as sending out postcards to subscribers, proofreading articles, delivering the paper to local businesses and helping facilitate new ideas to foster the growth of the paper itself.
When asked what she wanted to do after walking across the stage at graduation, she answered, “I want to go to Franklin College to pursue journalism or marketing.”
Shotwell not only focuses on her schooling but she is also a sports star. She is a captain for the cross country teams and and is a distance runner.
Shotwell said the things she likes most about CHS are related to opportunity.
“You have so many opportunities to get involved, make a difference and just enjoy the community atmosphere,” she said.
Shotwell is a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) where she is the public relations officer and is also an NHS member. In addition, she is the managing editor of the yearbook and the CHS student newspaper.
She is not only an active participant in her school, but also in her community, serving at her church daycare. She is a well respected athlete, friend and human being.
As for words of wisdom to younger students, Shotwell said, “You need to be confident in yourself and believe you have the ability to succeed and do great things.”
