With the new school year beginning, there are many new plans, policies and adventures for all. but who is behind this shift? The answer is new Cascade principal, Jeff Hansel.
Hansel attended Indiana University and Indiana State University where he received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Master’s in Educational Administration.
His journey with Mill Creek started at Cascade Middle School as vice principal and athletic director. After a short time, he moved to Plainfield Middle School. But when an opportunity presented itself to return to the Cascade family, he settled in as the new principal at the high school.
According to Hansel, “Transitioning from working at a middle school to a high school as a principal in these first few weeks has been like going from driving a go-kart to piloting a spaceship. Everything’s faster, more complicated and comes with a lot more buttons.”
Hansel not only fills his duties at CHS, he is also active in the military. He says that doing both is not an easy task, but the military has taught him a lot of important skills like managing his time, being a leader, problem-solving and adaptability.
Hansel plans to bring a lot of good to CHS. Some things he hopes to achieve are to have a great school culture, make sure the community is involved, opening a wide variety of extracurriculars, have good communication throughout the school, good safety and finally to bring tech up to speed with everyone knowing how to use it.
With all the things he wants to accomplish, he also wants to bring a positive change. He wants a very positive environment with things like pep rallies, spirit weeks and doing everything he can to get the community out to support the clubs, students and teams.
According to Hansel, “In short, my goal is to make CHS a dynamic, fun and supportive environment where everyone feels energized and excited to come to school every day.”
