The Indiana Crossroads Conference recently held its annual art competition at Cardinal
Ritter High School. For Cascade High School students, it was quite the event.
First year CHS art teacher, Rachel Morris submitted the works of six of her students
across various mediums.
According to Morris, “This was exciting for me personally, because it was my first time
with this show. But all the credit goes to the students because they all put in so much hard work
on the pieces.
Sophomore Ayla Hayes was in the ceramics category for her “Set of 3 Bottles” and her
dinnerware set. Hayes received both 2nd and 3rd place in the ceramics category.
Senior Margaret Holtsclaw received 1st place in the mixed media category for her
drawing project titled “Life Lessons.”
Lastly, senior Abigail Robinson received 2nd place in the painting category for her
painting titled “Tech Deck.”
Not only did these girls do an amazing job of representing CHS across several categories,
Robinson took it to another level as she received the overall Best of Show for the entire
competition, which is the highest honor awarded.
Robinson stated, “I’m super thankful I got to be a part of the show. I saw a lot of amazing
art pieces there and I’m very honored that I won an award.”
The work of these girls, and many others will be on display at CMS & CHS Fine Arts
Night, this Thursday from 6pm-8pm at the high school.
