Located at the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center in Plainfield, the pool and waterpark Splash Island offers lifeguarding jobs. Senior Taylor Trusty has this position and makes “$14 an hour on weekdays, and $15 on weekends.”
Lifeguarding is good for attentive people who are, according to Trusty, “Prepared for any situation and ready to jump in at a moment’s notice and enforce the rules.”
With such responsibility, several hours of online classes and training over the weekends is required for lifeguards to learn protocol and many crucial life saving methods.
The job comes highly recommended by Trusty who stated its many benefits, “You make lots of friends and get a free membership to the rec center and learn how to help people outside of your job.”
Cox’s Plant Farm
Calling all lovers of nature and the outdoors! Cox’s Plant Farm on highway 40 is the job for you. Employee junior Elijah Cook usually completes relaxing yet physical tasks such as, “moving pots or scooping dirt into pots.”
It’s a job that involves teamwork. “The best part about working at Cox’s is the people you work with. You are almost never working by yourself,” Jimmy added.
Paying $10 an hour, Cox’s Plant Farm is a wonderful job for those who value movement and hard work in their job.
Bru Burger
A restaurant setting such as Bru Burger in Plainfield is a perfect workplace for those who enjoy a fast paced environment. Junior Mirra Miles helps find people a table and cleans them after customers have finished their meals. Not only does she make “$10 an hour”, she also earns an additional “2% of the tips” from customers.
Miles spoke highly of the healthy and fun working environment at Bru Burger. She stated, “The management is great and so is the pay, the best part of my job is the people I work with.”
