Homecoming is all about school pride and Friday night lights. And this year, homecoming was epic.
The week started off with excitement as each day had a dress up day with a theme. Tuesday was PJ Day, Wednesday was Barbie and Ken Day, Thursday was class theme and Friday was spirit day.
The last day was special for the class of 2024 as they wore their senior jeans they designed for themselves. There were lots of creative jeans and overalls with unique designs on them. Everyone did a wonderful job dressing up and joining in on the fun.
Homecoming in all towns is important and a big deal, but there is something even more special in our small town. The Cascade Cadets football team is more like a family and the entire town comes out to cheer on the team. Our cheer block was amazing at homecoming with the signs, chants and joining in with the cheerleaders. This helped the players get more pumped for their big game.
Before the game, the community came together for tailgating. This is a tradition at every game when parents get together and eat before the game. All the parents participate in bringing their own food and drinks and then hurry to get their good seats before the game at 7.
A recent addition to our homecoming activities is the induction to the C.A.D.E.T. Hall of Fame. This years inductee was retired choir teacher, Ric McFadden, who last taught in 2016.
At halftime, all the attention was on the homecoming court. This is really exciting for everyone who is on court to announce what their future plans are and to show off their dresses and suits. This year, seniors Claire Austin and Evan Lanphier were crowned King and Queen.
Finally, the Cadets took home the big win against Cloverdale. Not just a win, but a blowout ending in a score of 68-0.
After taking home an exciting win, the next day was celebrated with the homecoming dance. This was fun for all students to come together and get dressed up and dance to music together.
So, fall homecoming is in the books with great success. Next up, SNOWCOMING!
