Taylor Swift is coming to Indianapolis November 1st-3rd. And better still, she’s taking Gracie Abrams with her to open the concert at Lucas Oil Stadium.
That’s right.
After the Ticketmaster debacle earlier this year, “swifties” are getting another shot at seeing Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour.” In fact, Swift announced an entire new leg of her tour including not just Indianapolis, but Miami and New Orleans, coming in 2024.
The original U.S. leg of the tour did not include an Indianapolis show, which gave fans in Indiana an even smaller chance at getting the already almost unattainable tickets.
From the nosebleeds to the floor, there is no bad seat at this show. Free wristbands that change colors to the music are passed out at every concert, and Swift made sure to acknowledge that there wasn’t a fan from each massive group that she can’t see with them on.
From comfy casual to all out glitter and glam, fans from all different backgrounds and styles have come together to celebrate the most amazing storyteller and icon of our generation.
“Taylor Swift IS the music industry. She helps me through every one of my moods. She helps me cry when I need to, jam out when I need to, be mellow and just vibe when I need to. So Taylor Swift is an enhancement of the life experience,” Said senior Megan Fox.
It’s clear that Fox isn’t the only person Swift helps get through life because of the record-breaking numbers at nearly every stadium the Eras Tour stops at. The largest recorded attendance included over 73,000 swifties. It will also be the first tour to shatter $1 billion in ticket sales.
So we know Taylor Swift has billions of fans and a wildly successful tour, but what’s so special about her music that she’s accumulated so much fame and money?
Senior Haydan Gabbard believes it’s the way Swift helps women embrace their femininity no matter who they are.
“The most important thing about her to me is that Taylor Swift really shows young women that we are allowed to embrace our femininity while still being strong, talented, opinionated and worthy of respect.”
Swift’s music helps people through the high and lows of life all while sharing her life lessons and deep feelings through her songs. It’s no wonder everyone rushed Ticketmaster as soon as her Eras tour was originally announced.
So many people were attempting to get tickets at the same time that the site crashed and many were left on a waitlist for hours just to only have the option of buying tremendously expensive tickets.
Many of the original tickets that were being sold were bought by bots and scalpers, then resold for even more outrageous amounts of money. With little luck left for getting tickets, swifties around Indiana are overjoyed with this second chance at getting tickets, but many are left wondering if will result in more failures.
“This system is similar to the first leg system, however it seems more codes were given out for the first leg. Sadly, I was waitlisted this time around, along with everyone else I have asked. I know of 15 people who signed up for presale and all 15were waitlisted,” said Gabbard.
Although Gabbard and many others are out of luck for getting Indianapolis tickets, and the complications from Ticketmaster are still outrageous, the ticketing giant has made a significant change in making the process of obtaining these tickets less difficult.
“I think what they modified this time was to prevent more bots from getting onto the website and buying tickets then selling them for a huge profit,” Said Fox.
Even though it’s not without its complications, this additional leg of her tour has provided the opportunity for many others to see Taylor Swift.
“Not much compares to singing your heart out for three hours to Taylor Swift in a stadium full of swifties. For me the chance to see the show again means reliving the excitement of the concert and the experiences you have with swifties before the concert begins,”said Gabbard.
