Setting up for victory

The volleyball season is wrapping up and the girls are planning to go out with a fight.

With less than a month left in the regular season, the team has it’s sights on winning a sectional title.

With a current record of .500, the team is looking to finish strong against teams like Mooresville, Decatur and North Putnam.

The group is led by a quintet of amazing seniors in Josie Jones, Zoe Mendenhall, Mallory Phillips, Adelyn Wheat and Jaclynn Hutte.

This group offers great leadership as they have been playing together for several years.

Other contributors are junior, Sydney Warran, sophomores, Avery Littrell, Claire Austin, and freshmen, Hailey Dunn and Grace Gray.

Coach Stacie Minardo said, “We set many goals this season and are still working to achieve them. One of our biggest goals is to compete for the sectional title.”

This year the team has had some trouble finishing games. They compete to win with every single team they face, but sometimes fall short.

The girls have been focusing on fundamentals in the past weeks to be better prepared for tournament play.

We have been pushing the basics in practice because when we focus on everyone doing exactly what they need to do, we all mesh well together,” said Mendenhall.

Beyond the floor, this team has a bond that is different from past seasons.

According to Warran, “It is important that we all get along and are there for each other on and off the court.”

When it comes down to it, the team faces some big competition in the next few weeks, but they are up for the challenge.
