Cascade’s football season is winding down and the mighty Cadets have played very hard this season managing some great wins, but also some losses.
The first team the Cadets faced was Danville and it was a game to remember and a wonderful start for the season. It was the first time the Cadets have beaten Danville in 40 years. The final score was 20-14.
In week two, the Cadets had a tough matchup against the Monrovia Bulldogs. The Cadets lost by a final score of 57-20.
Cascade also played another victorious game against Brown County. Brown County was defeated up front. Cascade’s great offensive line created pressure on the quarterback. They defended their new field again with a score of 42-20.
In week four, Cascade traveled to Cloverdale in a nasty game of mud and rain. Passing the ball was difficult for both teams, but junior Dylan Kottkamp managed to connect with junior A.J. Sanders for a touchdown in the second quarter. In the third quarter Cloverdale scored a rushing touchdown but also threw a pick 6 to A.J. Sanders. Cascade managed to get the W despite the hard rain and muddy field.
All of the senior players, Cameron Ginter, Connor Horning, Benson Walker, Jacob Wheat, Ricardo Escudero, Jordan Van Winkle, Dalton Butler, Ira Moore and Justin Hurst have played and led the underclassmen very well. They never disappoint the team and keep the team together at all times.
The Cadets have one regular season game left before the sectional. They are hoping to answer the bell and finish their season strong. Coach Spinks is looking forward to the support of fans every Friday night as they head into the IHSAA state tournament.
