The Lady Cadets have been unable replicate their first week of soccer.
After starting the season 1-1-1, the girls were heading into the second week with a positive attitude.
The following Tuesday after their first loss the girls had to face up against Western Boone. The girls had all the confidence in the world heading into this game. The girls headed into the game with just a little too much confidence because they lost 5-2 despite the offensive attacks of Tori Potters, Jade Holzhausen, and Lauren Guetig.
On Thursday night they had to face the 2a power house Cardinal Ritter. The girls were very physical and had a total of three yellow cards and one red card. Junior Taylor Norris scored early in the game but one goal was not enough to beat Ritter. Ritter put the ball in the net a total of nine times. The girls knew that it was going to be a rough game and had their eyes set on the next game against Brown County.
After nearly a hour weather delay the girls got to take the pitch against Brown County. The girls needed to have positive attitudes more than ever after their first two games this week. The positivity helped the girls win 3-2 in a nail-biter. Norris scored all three goals to get her first high school hat-trick. “A hat-trick… We have been waiting on that for two years now”, stated Coach Dorsey.
This was a rough week for the girls with two big losses and that senior Janelle Morris was unable to play due to a red card. But the girls played hard and that is all the school can ask for. They are glad the finished on a positive note this week and cannot wait to play their future Indiana Crossroads Conference rival, Monrovia next week.
