The Cascade High School swim teams have had a good season this year with some intense meets for both teams.
Both teams have had similar records this year with the girls team winning going 7-4 with one tie. While the boys team went 7-4 for their season.
The teams also had some very close meets this season during their meets against North and South Putnam, with the girls team winning 92-91 at the South Put meet and the boys winning the North Put meet with the same score of 92-91.
There were many fun and competitive meets throughout the season but the best meets happened during their last two home meets. These being Hawaiian night against South Putt where everyone wore their best Hawaiian shirt and senior night. Senior night was special with it being the last meet where they honored nine seniors and let them choose what they wanted to swim.
With the team having no captains everyone steps up to play their part and work as a team.
Which is a big strength the team has no matter how long a member has been swimming or how good they are at it everyone plays their part to help the team.
Senior Katiane Bolinger says, “My favorite part of swimming is definitely the team. I love all the girls and it’s like having an extended family that I get two hangout with everyday.”
The team hopes to make a good impression at sectionals, even if they do not all make it to state. Coach Amy Phipps says “ Our expectation is this: these kids have worked hard for 15 weeks…goal is to hit their own personal potential at sectionals.”
