One thing that Cascade High School has never lacked is school spirit, but this fall season has been better than ever a the themes, size and spirit of the cheer block have been on point this season and there are multiple reasons why this is the case.
The string of success has students wanting to support their fellow peers’ victories. The boys and girls soccer teams, volleyball and football all currently have winning records, which is enhancing the school spirit throughout the community and student body.
An important aspect of the cheer block success starts with Mr. Hansel. In just his first year, he has put an emphasis on the importance of showing up and showing out. He has made it clear that he wants the spirit of Cascade to be more amplified than it has been before. To do this, he has made multiple announcements as well as continuing to allow students to go to any home event free of charge.
Home games aren’t the only contests that are being supported. The football team’s week one game at Indian Creek showed that fans travel, especially at CHS. More students traveled to the away game than ever before to support their team.
Another reason that students have been showing up is the themes.
The bar has been set higher than ever because of the improved “Black & Blue Crew.” For volleyball, white and black out have been the clear favorites. Some others included Adam Sandler night and camo.
The first home football game this year was USA themed, which brought many fans to come support the Cadets. Paint, hats, flags, and red, white, and blue colors were flying everywhere. Some future football game themes include pink out, country, and school spirit.
Without the Black & Blue Crew, the cheer blocks wouldn’t be able to achieve everything they have so far. They go above and beyond for the spirit of the school. Whether it’s making the themes, going to every game and showing their best school spirit, they are the backbone of the energy that is brought to CHS athletics.
JuniorvMason Warran said, “As our teams are winning more games, the overall atmosphere of the cheer block is making more students want to support their friends.”
Hopefully as the school year goes on students will continue to show up and show out.
