Just add water

As fall sports come to an end, swim season is just around the corner and the CHS swim teams look to dominate the field this year with a lot of familiar and new faces on the teams.

Junior swimmer Dane Market says, “While all of us are very unsure about how this season will play out with the world’s current condition, the boys team has more numbers than they’ve seen in a long time and the girls team is as talented as ever.:

The girls swim team usually gives the competition a run for their money and last year they brought home the Indiana Crossroads Conference championship and broke 11 school records.

According to head coach Paul Williams, “With that same group returning they are looking to rewrite that record book again this season.” Williams says both the boys and girls teams’ goal is to bring home the ICC Championship, while also having a big impact at the Hendricks county and sectional meets.

Having some great success last year, Market was the Hendricks county 100 breaststroke champion. Being a two event champion in the ICC meet, he will be the boys team leader for the season.

Victoria Potters is pumped for her senior swim season. She’s been swimming with most of her teammates for the past decade so this year will be pretty special for her.

“This year is definitely going to be a challenging year for us as a team with all of the coronavirus precautions, but we are going to make the best out of it.”

Potters hopes the team will break more school records this season and potentially send a swimmer to state.

Potters says, “The swim team has always had a winning mentality and plan to continue that excellence and mentality this year as well.”
