Looking to finish strong
September 25, 2019
It has been a slow start for the boy’s soccer team this year as they have faced some very tough competition with the new conference, but they believe in the long run it will pay off.
Head Coach Kevin Valenti stated, “Competing with these bigger ICC schools with no seniors on our roster has been difficult, but we are forced to play faster and more physical and I think it will all pay off for us come sectionals.”
At the end of the day, sectionals is what decides the season, and the Cadets(3-7) are being prepared and becoming better that can have them make a big run.
This squad has competed and have had some great highlights this season. Valenti is proud of the team never giving up. One such example is when they played a tough Tri-West squad.
In the second half the cadets were down by as much as four goals, but they began to chip away with the help of junior Jacob Huffer.
Huffer scored five second half goals to get the score very close. Although the squad lost, they showed a ton of heart that made Coach Valenti proud.
The team is looking to improve and finish the season strong. “We need to defend better as a team and continue to work on our conditioning,” said Valenti
Junior Brayden Grable believes in his team and is ready to finish the season strong.
“I think we can win out and compete in every game this season,” the midfielder said.
He is one of the highlighted players on the defensive side, joined by Braden Potters, Braden Warren, and Trey Gruca.
The offensive side has been led by Jacob Huffer, who has 11 goals and 1 assist, and Blake Stack, who has 6 goals and 5 assists.
The Cadets are ready and are excited for the rest of the season. When they can put in a complete game, they can play with anyone.
