The state team.

The state team.

The Cascade Spell Bowl team had many accomplishments and an outstanding season this year. The team qualified for state and competed against big schools. Students had great performances during competitions. Coaches, Ms. Paradise and Mrs. Osos did a phenomenal job preparing the students to achieve and compete.
The Spell Bowl team was a big surprise as there were more students on the team than the previous season. Last season the team only consisted of 10 people, but this year they had 14 students including more freshmen.
A few outstanding spellers were freshman Alyssa Burnett and senior Rayna Hill. Burnett did very well at all the competitions and encouraged and pushed her teammates to excellence. Hill was a leader and played a big role for the team. She had the best performance at the state meet.
The state competition was a little rough for the spellers. The nerves got to some of them and spellers missed words they have been studying for weeks ahead. The Cascade Spellers were able to get 4th in class C. Coach Paradise is “looking forward to going back to state next year.” She believes that the spellers will place in the top three next year. “We will have more students who have had the experience at state.”
