It’s official… “The” Cascade High School has been named a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School for Exemplary Performance. On October 1st, 2018 “The” Cascade High School was officially given the title by the United States Department of Education. Cascade was the only high school out of over 500 from the State of Indiana to be selected for the award.
On October 2nd, State Superintendent of Instruction, Dr. Jennifer McCormick, invited the seven Indiana National Blue Ribbon Award winners to the Indiana State House. A group of revered staff members proudly represented “The” Cascade High School at the awards ceremony. “The” Cascade High School will travel to Washington D.C. in early November for the National Awards ceremony hosted by the United States Department of Education.
“The” Cascade High School is the 34th high school in Indiana to ever win this prestigious award since its introduction in 1982. According to the U.S Department of Education, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
When Principal Jon Acton first heard of the news he said, “I am excited, humble and proud of the students and staff of “The” Cascade High School.”
It is an extreme honor to have been given the opportunity to be considered as a National Blue Ribbon School, and an even a greater honor to have been named one. It really shows that “The” Cascade High School is truly the best small school in the state.
