As fall is coming to an end and winter approaches, many sports are winding down and coming to an end, including girls golf.

The team had an overall good season, starting the season off with a new head coach.

Out of twelve schools, Cascade finished second in their conference match, with senior Kaitlyn Breeding, and sophomores Anna Littrell and Dixie Short finishing at the top of the heap.

The girls went into conference right after a three-way match with Greencastle and Southmont. They were only able to play nine holes that day due to weather, but then played the second nine holes the following Wednesday.

“It was exciting to see the numbers of girls who came out for the team this year. The experience the younger golfers received will be very valuable to them next year. With only one senior on the team, we have big expectations for next season,” said assistant coach, Pat Flanigan.

The girls sealed a good win against Monrovia for their last regular meet of the season with a score of 203 to Monrovia’s score of 220 before heading to sectionals.

Ultimately, the team placed 6th out of 10, but their competition is mighty with five of the teams in the top 20 in the state. However, the girls did manage to break the school scoring record at the sectional.

Everyone is looking forward to next year. The coaches hope to see the team get bigger and get more incoming players to be more competitive.
